My Spanish Course in Málaga

I never thought that two weeks and my modest savings could go so far...

I wanted to learn Spanish in Spain. I thought of Malaga because of the cheap flights available. I looked for a Spanish language school on the Internet and I decided on Lexis. Their prices were very reasonable and I liked the look of the place.

Today is my last day at the school and I have to say that I made a wise choice. Lexis is in the same area as all of the city’s main monuments and just five minutes’ walk from Malagueta beach. The facilities here are modern and welcoming, with plenty of well-lit space, air conditioning and an assembly hall where we can watch films, dance flamenco and even act out plays on the stage! In fact, years ago there used to be a theatre where the school is now, and it was in this very building that Antonio Banderas made his first appearance!

And the teachers… I’m really going to miss their sense of humour and patience – I’ve learned so much from them, almost without realising. The method they use is really simple but so effective! And you can practise as much grammar and vocabulary as you like on the school’s computers…after you’ve checked your e-mail, of course!

Yesterday, we went on a tour of Muslim Malaga. I loved it! The guide only spoke in Spanish, but I was able to understand everything and admire all the monuments that the Arabs built here.

Malaga is a city with plenty to see and do. In two weeks, I’ve seen the Picasso Museum, the Cathedral, the Alcazaba Fortress and Gibralfaro Castle, wonderful visits and all in Spanish! I’ve been going to the beach with my classmates after school nearly every day. After a short rest at home, we get ready and go shopping, or we meet other students. The nightlife in Malaga is temptation itself!
